Fistles of Snow

*Note* We aren't quite sure what the title of this movie is, as we saw it nearly a year ago at the Seattle Children's Film Festival. All we remember is that it was good!
This movie was about these little scenes that made my mom cry a little bit, because they were all about friends and family and stuff. Some of the scenes were in a different language. There were subtitles on the screen.
The most interesting part of this movie was at the end when the snowmen were having a snowball fight. But, they didn't use the snow from the ground--they used themselves! They used so much of themselves that they died! The walrus that was watching them was kind of sad, too. He took one of the snowmens' hats and put it on his own head and waddled away.
There was another movie at this film festival called "The Secret of Kells." Some parts made me jump! (You can read my review of that movie in another spot on my blog.)
Another movie in the film festival was about this guy that went on a ship, and had to leave his family at home. He almost got killed, but he ended up coming back to his family. His son was surprised to see him when he came home, because the dad didn't really look the same. He was a little bigger, and shorter, than his son remembered.
One more movie was about a girl who touched a doll, and she somehow ended up inside of the doll. She then was seeing things from the doll's point of view. She was shaking the doll to try to get out, but she couldn't. Every kid that looked in the window got stuck inside of dolls. The dolls were cursed. If you touched them, you ended up inside of them.
That's all for today! Thanks for visiting "Cinema with Sarah." See you later. Bye!

Alpha and Omega

This movie was about these wolves who wanted to get home. The girl's name was Kate, and the boy's name was Humphrey. They got caught by these guns that shot bow and arrows, and it made them tired so they went to sleep, and these guys put them in cages.

A funny part was when Humphrey had to go to the bathroom! The girl said, "Can't you hold it? Did you try crossing? Squeezing?" Humphrey said, "Yes!" Kate said, "Okay, when we stop." Then, when they stopped, he tried, but he lost the feeling. It was weird.

Another funny part was when a wolf was going "Ah-wo-wo-wo-wo!" When the birds heard him, their wings stopped and they fell to the ground. His howl was wo weird!

Then, a goose asked Kate, "Would you like to repopulate?" Kate said, "Argh!" and Humphrey said, "Sounds good to me!" Kate said, "Uh, NO!"

In the end, Kate and Humphrey got back home, and they got to marry each other. At the beginning of the movie, they didn't really know each other, but by the end, they knew each other very well.

A sad part was when Kate got hit by a heard of antelopes, and she almost died. All of the wolves were so sad, they were almost crying. But, she was still alive, and she got better. Humphrey was glad that Kate was still alive.

Despicable Me

There were a LOT of funny parts in Despicable Me! In one scene, a little boy's ice cream fell on the ground, and a bad guy offered him a little animal balloon. He gave it to the bad guy and the kid was squeezing it and teh bad guy wanted it to pop. He took a needle and poked the balloon and the balloon popped on his face! Another funny part was when the guy, Victor, a bad guy, took a bite out of the cookies that the girls were selling, and they were actually fake! There were wires in the cookies--they were actually little cookie robots! Victor didn't really taste the difference.
Another funny part was when the girls and another bad guy were at the fair. There were these games, and one was one where they tried to shoot the spaceship down. The bad guy was like, "I saw her get it with my own eyes!" The guy running the game said, "I don't believe you!" The bad guy took a real gun and shot the spaceship and said, "Okay, she wins!" Then the girl got the toy unicorn.
The story was about the bad guy and the girls, and the minions. The minions were little yellow plankton, but without the antennae. They were kind of like the bad guy's assistants. They didn't really talk, they just made little squeaky noises.
The saddest part of the movie was when Victor stole the kids. It made the other bad guy sad, and turned him into a good guy. When they were on the ship, one of the girls was left behind. The other guy shouted, "Just jump! I promise I'll never do it again!" She jumped, and Victor caught her and she said, "Wait one second..." because Victor was like, "Oh no you don't," and the other bad guy said "Just fight him!" and she tried to jump, but fell down into the sky. Then, the minions and the other bad guy had to try to catch her, so the minions held on to each other and they caught the girl! They were hanging by a thread!
At the end, the other guy turned into a good guy, and he adopted the kids. Victor was stranded on the moon forever! It was a good ending for the good guys, but not the bad guys. The minions turned into good guys, too, along with their owner. Then, the girls had their dance recital, and the bad guy came to it. The minions changed the music, and they all got to go up on stage and dance. Even Victor could hear the music on the moon, and he started shaking his booty!

Tales of the Lost Guardians

The coolest thing about this movie is that it was in 3-D! Things always popped out at me, and it looked like I could touch them. For example, there was smoke, water, and the owl's beak that looked like I could touch them.
The owl hatchlings were really cute. Two owl brothers were also in the movie. One of them turned out to be nice, and the other turned out to be mean. He tried to destroy his brother, but he fell in fire, so the good brother won, but he was kind of sad, because it was his brother.
The scariest part in the movie was when all of the owls got in a fight. It was bad owls vs. good owls. The good owls were like knights, and they were trying to keep the king safe. In the end, they were able to keep the king safe--the good owls won! The bad guys all died. That made me feel happy, because that means the good guys won. Bad guys are mean, and probably would have hurt many more owls.
The saddest part was when someone stole the little hatchlings from their parents. They were going to try to make them fly, but they told the hatchlings to be quiet. The hatchlings were finally returned to their parents. Some of them got hurt, but none of them died.
There weren't really any funny parts in this movie. But, I was happy, because the kids were returned to their parents. Their parents really loved them! I would like to be returned to my parents if someone took me!

Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 was about when the toys went out on an adventure to preschool. They didn't want to , but they had to, because their owner Andy made them, because he put them in a trash bag and delivered them to the preschool. Woody got left behind, and Woody tried to save them (he didn't get put in the trash bag by accident--he hid). Woody had to rescue them.

My friend, Ruby, was right about Toy Story 3: she said it was kind of scary and kind of sad. The scary part was when they were at the dump, and they had to hang on to a truck, but they accidentally let go of their metal thing and they fell off. Then, the truck stepped aside so the toys could go down like a waterfall of junk, and they were about to go down into fire. This bear, Lotso, was a bad guy. He got up the ladder, then tricked them that he was going to push the red button to stop the junk from going down into the fire. Then the toys said, "Darn it! You tricked us!" Because Lotso was a bad guy.

The funniest part of Toy Story 3 was when the t-rex wanted to get played with--he couldn't wait--but then, he didn't want to get played with, because the pre-schoolers weren't very nice, because they're only kids. The other funny part was when the baby found the potato head and started stuffing the eyes in his nose and mouth and he had a runny nose. Buggers were coming out of his nose! Ew! It was really funny!

The sad part of the movie was that Lotso started out as a good guy, but then the girl that owned him went into the field and left him there, and he came alive, and got really sad when he looked in the window. He saw that the girl who owned him had a new Lotso, and he thought that she didn't love him anymore. That's when he started to be a bad guy, and that was really sad.

Later, the toys came back from their adventure, then the little girl wanted to own them. She said, "There's a snake in my boot!" Andy was like, "What?" Andy was kind of sad to give away Woody, because he was Andy's favorite toy, and Andy really loved him.

Then, the toys lived with that girl, and had a good life.

The Secret of Kells

The Secret of Kells
This movie was about a young boy named Brandon who tried to save the Book of Kells from evil. Brandon had to help draw the designs in the book, and the evil snake eye helped him do it. Then the snake lost his eye, and the snake couldn't see where he was going, and he ate himself.
Brandon's father got hit by a bow and arrow--they were shooting over the fence of the castle--and hit his father in the arm. He turned out okay, though--that was the happy part.
The scariest part was when Brandon went into the evil cave, and said, "There's no such thing as an evil monster," and his friend Ashlen said, "Don't say that, because the monster can get really mad!" Then they had to run out of the cave and go back home. Ashlen said, "I told you!"
The good part of the movie is that everyone turned out okay, and the monsters ran away.
Brandon used the snake eye to draw the shapes in the book of Kells. The drawings in the movie were really pretty. The drawings were like looking through a kaleidoscope.
The ending was a happy ending, because everyone turned out okay, all because of Brandon. Thank you for visiting, and come back soon to Cinema with Sarah.

Babies

The movie "Babies" was really cute. My favorite part was at the end when all the babies learned to walk. It made me feel so happy when they walked, because they were getting bigger, and when you get bigger, that means you learn more things, and go on to the next step (like pre-school or Kindergarten). That's really important to me, because I'm growing and getting bigger, too. I also liked when the cute little baby from Mongolia accidentally peed in his bed. He was laying on his back, and suddenly, he accidentally peed in his bed! That part made me laugh, because it was so cute and funny. I also liked it when the little girl from the United States ate a banana. She kept spitting it out and putting it back in her mouth! Maybe she thought it was yucky, but then thought, "Oh, I guess I was wrong!"

The movie was about all these different babies--how they grew up in different countries. Some grew up outside, like did not live in "regular" houses, and some grew up in houses like mine.

The scariest part of the movie was when one of the moms squirted her baby's face with breast milk to clean him, but then she wiped it off and his face was clean. I thought that she would be spraying it in his face for hours, but she only sprayed a little bit.

I think that all children should see this movie because it was cute. It also taught us how to take care of and support our babies. It taught us about different ways that people live in the world. For example, some families had brown skin, and some had white skin, but they all LOVED their babies!

The part I didn't like was when the Mongolian baby's little brother was mean to him! He kept smacking the baby in the face with a towel, and made the baby cry. He didn't even care about the baby. That made me feel really sad AND mad, because that was really mean. You are supposed to treat babies nicely, like helping or snuggling with them, not hitting them! That is the worst thing you could ever do to a baby.

Someday when I'm a grown-up, I want to have a baby, too!
