Mirror Mirror

This story is based on "Snow White," the story of a princess who was poor and the stepmother was rich.  The stepmother had fancy clothes and the princess didn't.  The stepmother was being really mean to the princess, and making her do all the chores.  Then, the princess escaped into the woods.  Then, she found this man hanging upside down on a tree, hung up by a rope.  He didn't have a shirt on!  She took the man she found into the castle and showed him to the queen.  The queen thought he was so handsome she wanted to marry him.  The man said "Okay."

One of the funny parts in the movie was when the queen got this love potion, they had wine together, and the queen put the love potion into the wine that the man was drinking.  Then he started to act like a dog!  He was saying, "Oh, scratch my back--I have an itchy spot!"  He was also panting!  Then, the queen looked at the love potion again.  It said, "Love" on the bottle, and then the queen said, "Love."  Then she turned the bottle around and it had a puppy on the back!  Then she said, "Puppy love!"

A scary part in the movie was when a beast showed up in the forest when the princess went in with the man.  The beast chased them around the forest.  He was really fast.  He looked like half-dragon, half-snake, and also a lizard.  He also looked sort of human.  The man and the princess were fighting the monster as hard as they could.  Finally, the man gave the princess his dad's dagger that he gave to her.  Then, she noticed the beast had this necklace on, and she cut the necklace off.  Then, the beast turned into the princess's father!

When they got back to the castle, the wedding between the queen and the man was getting started.  Everybody thought that the king was dead, but he turned out to be the beast.  Then the princess and the man started talking to each other during the dancing, making friends with each other.  The queen's magic mirror was in a deep, dark hallway.  All she had to say to get in was "Mirror, mirror," then the mirror turned into a hologram that makes you disappear.  There was this little house above the water, and there were all these pictures of the queen, and one of them talked.  It said something will happen to you if you use too much magic, and you already have.  Finally, her magic did do something to her--it made her very old.

Then, the queen did the magic apple trick on the princess.  The very different part is that the princess didn't fall for it!  She said, "Nice try, Mother!"  She recognized that the queen was going to give her a poisonous apple.  And the princess and the new prince who was friends with the princess lived happily ever after!

The Lorax

I really enjoyed seeing the Lorax!  I can't remember all of the names, but it was about a kid who wanted to save the last real trees on earth.  He found out about a young man (the Onceler) who, a long time ago, had a factory that made thneeds (like scarves).  He had to cut down all of the trefula trees to make them out of the soft tops.  The reason he did this was to make a lot of money.

Eventually, he ran out of trees, and the world looked in real damage.  The lesson of this movie was to never cut down a tree unless it just falls down by itself.  The only good thing to do would be to never cut down a tree.  If there were no trees, the air wouldn't be as healthy, and it would destroy the world.  It would make Mother Nature very unhappy.  Plus, the birds would have no trees to put their nests in.

The man who made the thneeds got a little greedy because of the money.  Being greedy can make horrible things happen.  That is a fact!

At the end, the Onceler gave the boy the last trefula tree seed so he could plant it in the middle of town.  He had some trouble with the bad guys who tried to get the seed from him to try to steal the seed and defeat him, but in the end, the seed was planted!  And everyone lived happily ever after with their new tree.

Chimpanzee

The movie "Chimpanzee" was great!  The main characters in the movie are Oscar, Eesha, Freddie and Scar.  Oscar is the baby chimp, and Eesha is his mother.  Freddie is the leader of Oscar and Eesha's group, and Scar is the leader of the rival group.

In this movie, Eesha is killed by members of Scar's crew.  After she is killed, Oscar was all alone.  He tried to ask other chimps to adopt him and be his friend, but they scared him away.  All of the other mothers already had their own babies to take care of.  They couldn't adopt Oscar.  Then, one day, Oscar asked Freddie, a really big, old male, if he would adopt him. Freddie said yes, and the two of them got along really nicely.  Freddy helped Oscar learn how to smash nut shells with rocks and sticks.  He also taught him how to scoop up ants with a stick.  It was almost like fishing for ants--ants on a stick!

The scariest part of the movie was when Oscar's mother got killed, and the chimps were making loud drumming sounds on the logs.  Those drumming sounds meant, "Attack!  Attack!"  Another thing that made that scene so scary was that it was raining really hard--there was lots of thunder and lightning hitting the trees and making explosions and a lot of damage.

The funniest scene in the movie was when Freddie was teaching Oscar to eat a certain kind of fruit.  As they ate the fruit, they sucked the juice out of it, and stuck the fruit out on the ends of their lips!  It looked really funny!

It was really cool how the filmmakers went into the rainforest and survived that long.  There were a lot of dangerous animals, like leopards and snakes and army ants.

One message in this movie is that Oscar never gave up.  Even though he missed his mom, he still kept going and never gave up.  He was so brave to ask Freddie for help, because usually the big males don't help to raise the children.

I would recommend for you to go see this movie.  If you've already seen it, then go see it again!  I think chimps are pretty special.  The thing that makes them so much like us is their fingers!  They use their hands like we do, but they are better climbers!

Dolphin Tale

This movie was about a dolphin who lost his tail. He got tangled in a net, and this old man found him. He called over a boy, and they called a place that takes care of animals, like sea creatures. Winter (the name of the dolphin) was taken to the aquarium, where he met an older girl. She worked for the animal place. She helped find a doctor who helped Winter get a new tail.

The best part of the movie was when Winter got his new tail, and he was swimming really fast, like the speed of sound! I think Winter felt pretty good when he got his new tail, because he could move it up and down, and that helped him swim.

The saddest part of the movie was when the girl was crying, because the dolphin had to have his tail cut off. It was sad, because they thought Winter was going to die.

The scariest part of the movie was when the dolphin had some trouble moving his new tail. He didn't like it, because the sock that attached to his tail was rough and it was hurting him, and he had to kind of flick it off by moving it side to side.

In the end, the dolphin stayed at the aquarium safe and sound with his new tail. They thought of a tail made with a kind of gooey, soft gel, and that made his tail fit better and feel better. I think that Winter was happy at the end. Winter really liked the boy he met.

If I had a pet dolphin, I would take care of it, and I would feed it some fish every day. I would name my dolphin Winter, too, because of this movie. The movie made me feel kind of happy and cheerful!

Tally Ho Pancake

This movie was about a man who was making a pancake. The man was going to pour a whole bunch of maple syrup on the pancake, and the pancake didn't want any of the maple syrup on it, so it ran away. It went on a lot of adventures, and met lots of new people that wanted to put different stuff on it. For example, somebody wanted to put dirty socks on the pancake. Then somebody wanted to add apples. Each time someone tried to add somethng to the pancake, there was a song that went with it:

A pancake is really quite nutritious

Just add some syrup and make it taste delicious!

A pancake is really quite nutritious

Just add some socks and make it taste delicious!

A pancake is really quite nutritious

Just add some apple and make it taste delicious!

In the end, after a bunch of people tried to chase it, the pancake landed on a wire, next to a bird. It saw a little girl standing below, and she had an empty plate. The pancake didn't like to see the empty plate, so it floated down on to her plate. Then, everybody sat down at a breakfast table and they each put all of their things that they collected on the pancake. Then, they all ate the pancakes (they cut it up into small pieces) and it was delicious!

Lost and Found

This movie started with a little lost penguin ringing the doorbell of a little boy. Every time the little boy opened the door, he didn't see anything, because the penguin was so short.

The little boy decided to take the penguin back to where he came from. The little boy built a boat that would take them across the ocean to Antarctica. Along the way, there was a big storm, and the little boy and the penguin almost drowned. But then, a giant octopus helped them by putting them back in their boat so they could continue with their journey.

Once they reached Antarctica, there was a whole flock of penguins! The penguin really liked seeing his friends and family, but he also missed the little boy. He swam back to give the little boy a hug. That part made me cry, because it was so cute.

Marcel the Shell

Marcel is a shell that wears little pink shoes. She sounds very nice and gentle. She's funny, too. The funniest thing that she said in the movie was "You know where I found this lint? Under a tooth. You know what they say--lint is a shell's best friend!"

I can sound exactly like Marcel the Shell. I can make my voice sound exactly like hers.

Marcel the Shell made my mom laugh really, really hard.

Yogi Bear

This movie was about how much Yogi liked to steal picnic baskets! I missed the first 10 minutes of it, so I can't tell you about the very beginning, but I can tell you about the part I saw. (My grandma and I were kind of late.)

A scary part in this movie was when Yogi was water skiing, but he didn't listen to the ranger. The ranger told him NOT to steal any food or get into trouble, but he got in trouble anyway. He water skied and played with fire and his scarf caught on fire! He played with a fire torch! The ranger caught the torch, and saved the fireworks! But, Yogi's scarf caught the fireworks on fire anyway, and they shot towards the people, and the people ran away from the party.

In one part of the movie, there was a frog-mouthed turtle. His mouth was really big, and his tongue was like a frog's. He had the same details as a frog, but was a turtle.

One time, Yogi stole a whole table of food. The ranger came chasing after him. The funny part was when this dog was at the end of the table. He just laid there, and enjoyed the ride!

This movie was cool because it was in 3-D. The snout of Yogi's nose sort of wooshed out at us! Yogi also had a friend--his name was Boo Boo. He was in 3-D, too!

There was kind of a scary part in this movie. They were all on the river, and they were heading for the waterfall. They almost went down the waterfall. When they got caught on a branch, Yogi was like laying down and screaming! Even though they weren't going down the waterfall, he was screaming anyway! That was scary and funny at the same time.

This part scared my grandma: When Yogi picked up a worm from a tree, and said, "Pretend it's a gummy worm, pretend it's a gummy worm," and he ate it! Then, it shot out his nose! It looked really gross in 3-D! Boo Boo was like, "Eew."

Another funny part was when Yogi danced! He said, "Kick it, Boo Boo!" and turned on some weird music, and was shaking his booty! That part really made me laugh!

Tangled

This movie was about a girl named Repunzel. Her mom was a bad woman. She took Repunzel from her real parents when Repunzel was a baby. The mother wouldn't let her go outside, because there were bad creatures out there that could hurt her, like guards.

Another character in the movie was Eugene. Repunzel didn't want her mom to see Eugene. Her mom thinks humans can hurt Rupunzel, so that's why Rupunzel hid Eugene in her closet.

The best part of the movie was at the end, when Eugene and Repunzel killed Repunzel's mother!

There was this yellow, glowing flower that made Repunzel's hair glow. When she sang, her hair glowed. She sang a lot, so her hair glowed a lot.

The scariest part of the movie was when Eugene almost died. The evil mother shot him (I think), but he didn't die. He cut Repunzel's hair really short, then it turned all brown and curly. Then, the evil mother turned very old, and tripped over Repunzel's hair. She fell out the window of the castle and when she hit the ground, she turned to dust (because she was so old!).

The funniest part of the movie was when the chameleon, Repunzel's pet, was on Eugene's shoulder and he started hitting Eugene with his tongue, but Eugene didn't wake up. He kept on sleeping. Then the chameleon shot his tongue in Eugene's ear, and he was like, "Aah!" Then, Repunzel hit him on the head with a pan!

Another funny part was when Repunzel was trying to put Eugene in the closet. She kept going, "Ugh!" because he wasn't going easily into the closet. She got him in, then closed the door on his fingers. But he didn't scream, because he wasn't awake. Repunzel kept hitting him with a frying pan, because she didn't want her mother to know that she was hanging out with a human.

Another funny part was when this Viking looked like a clown-girl. It was really a boy! He kept dancing and it was weird!

It was really sad when Eugene almost died, which I already explained.

The movie ended when Repunzel went back to her parents, who were actually a real king and queen. I don't really know what happened to Eugene.
